Notes: Most milkweeds exude a milky sap when wounded. However, the sap from this milkweed is clear.

Flowers: June, yellowish to red orange, pedicels and stems hirsute; inflorescence - terminal and axial umbels; fruit - upright pubescent follicles on deflexed pedicels, lance-fusiform.
Leaves: irregularly alternate - sometimes in small part opposite, linear-lanceolate to oblong-ovate, sessile or slightly petioled.
