Ground ivy is a spring bloomer and produces flowers through the summer. It is abundant in lawns as well as wild habitats. See information on the US Forest Service Database.
The USDA shows the genus Glechoma to be wide spread through the U.S. Only one species is indicated in the genus Glechoma: G. hederacea. There is however, another plant in the mint family with which it can be confused - Lamium amplexicaule.
Flowers; blue with purple speckles, bilateral symetery.
Leaves; rounded, edges scalloped.
