Stems: fine hairs on upper third of stem (below inflorescence), lower stem lacking hairs or sparcely hairy.
Flowers: yellow; disc (3-6) and ray (8-14)florets in small heads with thin pointed yellowish phyllaries (3-4 ranked), heads crowded together on secund arrays; Involucres 1.7-2.5 mm; Inflorescence (capitulescence) sometimes conical, consists of densely pubescent branches—ascending or spreading and often recurved; Fruit a one seeded capsela (length 1-1.5 mm) with pappus (± 2 mm).
Leaves: lower cauline (stem) leaves often deciduous by flowering, leaves below inflorescence roughly similar in size and shape, sessile, 3-veined, lance shaped with serrated margins, 7 to 12 times longer than wide.
