Notes: Four species of Ludwigia have been reported in Iowa: L. alternifolia, L. palustris, L. peploides, and L. polycarpa. All four are found in wet invironments (see reference 2 below).

Flowers: July; yellow; petiolate, petals and sepals 4, stamen 4, fruit; a many seeded capsule, 4 sided nearly cuboidal with a rounded base and a pore at the distal end.
Stems and Leaves: stems erect, branched; leaves alternate, petioled,lanceolate (pointed at both ends), margin entire.
